As a team, we have decades of experience working with all age groups from kids to young adults to elders in the community, in public schools, and universities. We have worked extensively here in the Mariånas and around the world.
We provide a wide-array of learning environments that range from CHamoru chant & movement, Fino’ CHamoru & Fino’ Håya classes, creative workshops, culturally-grounded facilitation techniques and combinations of all of these.
We can offer classes from our standard curriculum or work with you to design programs specific to you and your organization.
Consulting
Gi Matan Guma’ offers bespoke consulting services that can enhance you and your organization’s expression of CHamoru culture and language.
We have been developing our own methods of engaging CHamoru culture as a tool for wellness, community cohesion, and cultivating creative potential.
We can share our framework with you through public talks, trainings, and private dialogues to enhance your creative, cultural, and/or professional project.
We are happy to talk through any project idea or proposal so that we can determine whether or not we would be the best fit for your needs.
Translation
Gi Matan Guma’ offers unique translation services with specialization in both Fino’ CHamoru & Fino’ Håya (exclusively indigenous words and grammatical constructions).
Whether it’s a personal creative project, like a song you’re writing or a tattoo you’re designing, a PSA, or a government document, or a full-script for television, we can help.
With our years of experience in the public and private sector, connections with elders throughout Låguas (the Mariånas), we want to help you navigate the different orthographies, regional dialects, and generational differences with ease and clarity.
While we have worked hard to develop our knowledge, we also know there’s a lot we don’t know. If there’s something we don’t know, we will be honest, and still do our best to find ways to support your needs.
